One of my visions for Africa over the next coming months is to work with African scientists to publish several plant & animal genomes sequenced on-the-ground in Africa. At the end of the exercise, I hope that we'd have fully opened floodgates of biodiversity genomics in Africa.

We're announcing the project winner of the African BioGenome Project - inqaba biotec Genome Challenge. There were over 3500 votes cast across all 6 African projects. The project winner will have the genome of Horsefly sequenced on-the-ground in Africa using PacBio Revio & Omni-C.
