Folks. Mira Monte was 1-9 last year and now the Lions are in the Central Section Division VI semifinals. What a turnaround for head coach Christian Johnson, his staff and players. Incredible. High school football rules.

An over-reliance on compliance got us here. And it ain’t gonna get us out of here. Committing to learning instead of complying to teaching is the way. We can do better. #Project180

Instead of giving assignments and grades, try giving opportunities and support. No, they are not the same. Frames matter. We can do better. #Project180

"There is a boy on the team. I will not be playing or participating in any part of this game." 15-year-old high school athlete Frances Staudt and her mother discuss the backlash she has faced for refusing to compete in a basketball game against an 18-year-old biological male.

You forgot the not teaching part! Students need skills! (Summarization, inferencing, speaking in groups, presenting, and critical thinking put into writing) Students don’t need to do the same “activity” each week to earn points…that’s not teaching…

You’re not the hero for giving out extra credit! Create assignments where students are pushed and then allow for growth opportunities in those skills. Don’t reward for attending school activities! There is no reason a student should have 133% in a course.

If you’re a private coach and your athletes see progress… that’s like figuring out that water is wet. Your clientele is already motivated and the number of athletes you coach is limited. And yeah, you hopefully are also a knowledgeable coach. All a recipe for success.

A 16 year old high schooler just ran 1:42.27. I have no words. This is the most impressive athletic feat in history. There are no superlatives. His performance makes high school Lebron look like nobody. Cooper Lutkenhaus take a bow.

Classroom management is the foundation of teaching K-12. No curriculum or teaching method will work if the teacher can’t manage the class.
