Shadowban-Opfer Stanley 🇺🇸 🏴‍☠️ 📯🎷🌈 Wird sich wohl um diese Studie handeln? science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Hochinteressante Studie. Demnach Erwärmungspeak 2023 auf verringerte niedrige Wolkendecke in nördlichen mittleren Breiten und Tropen zurückzuführen. Bedeutet aber eher nicht, dass CO2 weniger relevant, verringerte

Over the course of 2024, global temperatures hit record highs, yet again. Climate scientists are beginning to worry that temperatures are increasing faster than their models led them to expect. youtube.com/watch?v=P6EMJl…

I do think the recent Goessling et al paper in Science is noteworthy and worrying, and a persistent decline in cloud reflectivity would tend to support higher climate sensitivity estimates (but not necessary the very hot >5C ECS subset of CMIP6 models!). science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Last month a study found that 2023’s high temperatures were further intensified by reduced low-cloud cover. Though the cause of this is uncertain, alarmingly it could be a feedback from warming. If this trend continues warming may be faster than expected. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Our new paper shows that greenhouse warming and El Nino are a simple recipe making 2023 & 2024 the hottest years in a row. With a crude RCP4.5 radiative forcing, our tropical Pacific pacemaker simulation reproduced the 2023 warming remarkable well. doi.org/10.1038/s41612…

Another paper on the heating implications of Earth's dropping reflectivity is here (Goessling, Jung, Thomas Rackow 🧊 in Science Magazine). Planning a #sustainwhat show on this to build on my episode with Gavin Schmidt and Zeke Hausfather. Paper and show link in 🧵⤵️
