Bringing the last of the straw in from the fields ready for maize. Despite all the wet there’s almost zero waste. Cost effective this thatched roof straw storage.

With cost of living, rising food insecurity and food inflation still in the headlines, gov policies are encouraging farmers to not grow food crops, but also destroy them, turning some into nothing more than subsidy junkies. No Farmers, No Food

Farming - is there another industry where members position themselves on “holier than thou” pedestals while putting everyone else down who doesn’t align with their narrow views?

“In many cases, Tesco will have been paid for food off farms, long before farmers have been paid for it. The retailer is taking no risks, while farmers struggle with costs, weather, and the incessant pressure from retailers on their margins.”

Give British farmers a bigger share of the £2.4 billion of food served in our public sector - in schools, prisons, councils, hospitals and military.

If one of the major supermarkets genuinely provided a fair price for farmers (and consumers) and authenticity prioritised British home grown foods, they would create a marketing USP that would probably lead to a huge share of the consumer to retail market.

Great to see National Farmers' Union pushing for this, something that should have been done many years ago as has been championed and campaigned for brilliantly by Love British Food

Tesco will be selling (and paid for their goods) before they’ve paid producers, having taken almost no risk. Meanwhile farmers are waiting 6-12 months, sometimes more to see any return on their investments - with all the risks! ⁦No Farmers, No Food⁩ bbc.co.uk/news/business-…
