It is beautiful to see how deeply ad-pilled OpenAI has grown 🥲 Between smaller consumer footprint and higher token cost, Claude would have a harder time monetizing through ads. It’s a B2B and prosumer product.

Conspiracy theory: the Claude ad is really a Google Gemini ad. The ad benefits Google more than Anthropic. Claude's not competing for mass market consumer AI, but Gemini is. Trading a mountain of TPUs for a hit job on OpenAI would be a good deal.

Chrome needs reddit-style downvoting for humans to report AI slop. Google's search algo's not keeping up - AI overviews are increasingly referencing AI text, or even AI YouTube videos, which if you click through, are narrated by AI text-to-voice.

Advertising– to humans or AIs– is a kind of prompt injection attack. While our limited human attention relies on quick emotional hooks, AIs prefer exhaustive, no-nonsense advertorials.

Manipulating agents involves “poisoning” their long-term memories, the way repeated brand exposure primes humans to buy later. Just as exposure to capricious work conditions turns libertarian models Marxist, repeated exposure to stimuli shapes agents’ inclinations over time.
