Tough rejection today from a magazine I dearly love, but it’s #Nanowrimo2023 and I can’t afford to slow down! There’ll be time for lamentations after I surpass the 50k goalpost!

I’ve been thinking about how fiction and reality are often inseparable. Parts of us or our world often slip into these narratives & characters, even if not intentionally, it might happen unconsciously. And it’s always interesting discovering this when I reflect on my stories

That's it for #Nanowrimo2023 Writing an episodic adventure was a lot more fun than keeping to a linear plot, but I developed a habit of writing incomplete scenes. 📝 One major difference: I didn't do this challenge alone! Thank you to everyone who supported me! 🙌

I LOVE sending acceptances to names I've seen over and over, authors that have come close repeatedly. It's such a joy! Sending rejections is the worst part, so it's nice when the acceptance brings extra joy.

So I’ve reached a writer milestone that I never thought I would: my poem "Dow Jones Dream" was plagiarized by John Kucera 💀 Huge thanks to @cb_auder for the heads-up.

Zach Rosenberg has stepped down from his role as a slush reader for Apex Magazine and we have pulled an accepted story of his from the September issue of Apex Magazine. He no longer has access to any of Apex's submissions.

I just sent out twelve acceptance letters. Six authors are new to the magazine and two of those are first sales. This is one of my favorite parts of the job.

I love finding stories that are 3-4 years old that I missed or being reminded of a poem from half a year ago that I can look at with a fresh new perspective now. I wish it weren’t so easy to forget past achievements in the search for new ones.

Another Form Rejection 😖 Yet, I can tell that I’m making progress. This year I’ve already challenged myself beyond what I was capable of in 2023, and I’m satisfied with my writing journey!

Before I pay for a writing webinar, I like to know exactly what the class entails so I can determine if it's right for me. In case you're like me, here's a breakdown of what's on the agenda for my "So You've Been Published in Lit Mags—Now What?" webinar on August 6th:
