Global temperatures were extremely hot in June 2024, at just over 1.5C, beating June 2023's previous record-setting temperatures by 0.14C and coming in around 0.4C warmer than 2016 (the last major El Nino event). Now 2024 is very likely to beat 2023 as the warmest year on record

This isn't really how we resolve these scientific issues. In a debate of this format, there's no reason to think that the "winning" argument is the one that is more likely to be scientifically correct.

If you have a PhD in Physics and still think that the increase in atmospheric CO2 is probably natural then maybe you shouldn't be too surprised if people don't think further discussion is worth the effort.

Fact Brief #17: Q: Is more CO2 a good thing because it’s plant food? A: NO - While CO2 is necessary for plant growth, the negative impacts of climate change, driven by man-made CO2 emissions, far outweigh short-term productivity gains. [..] sks.to/gfb-plant?utm-…

🧵 (I see that Andrew Montford still doesn't understand this topic, even though he's writing about it for almost 20 years. 🙄 )
