This week has been full of choices! We have had a great time volunteering, exploring our community, and having fun living our adult life!

We love helping out our community with Meals on Wheels San Antonio !!

On Wednesdays we help keep our community clean by picking up trash at a local park. Today we brightened up Raymond Rimkus Park. We love serving our community!

Yesterday and today, we practiced our volunteer skills for park clean up. Look out Raymond Rimkus park! We will be there tomorrow.

This week we’ve been practicing our volunteering skills. Today, our guys used a jig to count out diapers to learn how to pack bags for Texas Diaper Bank

Today we learned some very important information, when pizza’s on a beagle you can have pizza anytime!! 😁 We also learned to read the directions on the box and use the microwave.

This 1st week Nellie Reddix Center has been great! Learning about our emotions, hanging with friends, and developing skills for you adult life with Ms. Shelby

This we we took a deep dive into the Zones of Regulation with Ms. Shelby class. The best part was all the breathing and meditation practices we learned to help regulate our emotions 😮‍💨🧘‍♂️

My boy Nathan!! We are so proud of you so far this year. Nathan is starting his 3rd year with me Nellie Reddix Center and is now starting to move around campus! He is rotating classes, exploring the gym, and even the cafeteria. I’m excited to see what is next.

This week I’m going to spotlight Alex J! Here Nellie Reddix Center Alex has grown so much. He has helped volunteering Meals on Wheels San Antonio, doing our park clean up, and around campus. He’s now attending his day program 1 day a week and helping out there. I’m proud of him and excited for the future!

Before Thanksgiving break I had some young adults take steps towards their adult life. Volunteer training with parents on Meals on Wheels San Antonio and independent transportation with VIA Metro Transit . Adult life here we come!!

Yesterday this young man rode ViaTrans for the first time!! We checked out a day program and went to get some McDonald’s. It was a great way to use adult transportation! Thanks VIA Metro Transit!

Shopping for snacks at Walmart is definitely part of being an adult. Corey and mom went on a trip to get all the things he wants. He did a fantastic job independently navigating the store and getting all his necessary items. Great Job!!
