We have reached the end of our main season. This season has been a disaster. The failed overhaul of our steam loco earlier this year has cost us £000s and with summer events rained off, the pot is empty to continue. Where do we go from here?

Finally, I'm starting to add pigment back onto the loco. It's a long road ahead, and we have very little money to do it now. I'm hopeful we will rebuild! Gloss black next, then we will be bolting the cylinders back onto the frames and re-wheeling. Nigel Harris

Today has mostly been about stripping, straightening and cleaning brake rigging. Given our woes this year and our 4.5k loss, if I were to open a justgiving to sponsor parts of the overhaul, would there be any support?

We would like to wish Happy New Year to all of our friends! We have snatched a few hours in the workshop today. The reverser quadrant has been stripped and primed, and the smokebox door has been refitted temporarily.

More little jobs done. Weighshaft cleaned and painted, bearing blocks cleaned, cylinder fixing bolts cleaned ready for refitting and a quantity of non-ferrous have been removed for an acid bath for descaling. Lots more to do if anyone fancies sponsoring a part!

More progress today. Bits bolted back on include the weighshaft and reverser foot. The non-ferrous has cleaned up, but sadly, the water gauges are not realistcally salvageable. Only £300 each to replace 😬😬😬

A good bit of progress. Springs arrived and the loco has wheels for the first time in over a year. The overhaul is racing along but we need your help. Sponsorship is welcome for parts, Drain cocks are £150, The water gauges are just under £300 each and the firebox nearly £700.

Small progress today. The wheels and motion components have been cleaned up, ready for fitting. I have also started to refit the brake gear. Once this stage is complete, the loco chassis will be stored whilst work on the tender and boiler starts.

The time has come to pass on my 10.25 loco project to someone else. With all the problems of the last year with our overhaul. Will offer all parts, drawings and images for just £600! This is a rare opportunity to acquire a start to a really unusual model

It's been a busy few days for us here. In between reviewing some tasty EPs and finalising a load of artworks for accurascale, I've managed to get the smokebox and brake rigging back on the loco. Big bit in the middle still missing though and spring isn't far away!

So that's one side done, now to repeat on the other. Hopefully, I will have some updated boiler quotes back next week so we can start moving the big bit in the middle forward. Anyone fancy sponsoring the water gauges at £300 each. DM me!

What better way to celebrate the class 60 project than to bookend them, with 60001 in the condition it left the works in back in 1989, featuring never before done details in model form, and 60100 as it is today under DB ownership. Pre-order now: accurascale.com/collections/cl…

Today we are running trains in Melton Mowbray Town Park. We also unveiled the new look for our electric locomotive. Still a bit of touching up to do before the transfers go on...
