This is the first poem that appears in my new book, Above Ground. I’ve been thinking a lot about the simultaneity of the human experience. How joy sits alongside sorrow. How wonder sits alongside despair. How we carry all of it all at once.

Haley Olig attended all sessions of the first tranche of the Sam Marshall inquest. Her report of the three days can be read here. This case raises significant issues of state collusion and summary execution relativesforjustice.com/samuel-marshal…

My colleague and I are reporting on this inquest and it’s truly astounding. A nurse asked police officer *twice* to help resuscitate a man and the officer literally turned his back on her. They wouldn’t even shine their flashlights so she could see. There are no words.

I think too about how freedom is not always threshold you cross or a finish line you run through. Rather, the pursuit of freedom—not simply for yourself but for others—is a practice that you incorporate into your everyday life. It’s a source of reflection & a catalyst for action.

And that’s precisely why the British government is stopping inquests through it amnesty bill. Because inquests now have the ability to deliver the truth and establish culpability

I'm still struggling to find the words - the most powerful film I've seen in a long time. Especially growing up in Wisconsin (which has yet to reckon with its treatment of Native peoples) and working now in legacy in Ireland, the parallels are staggering and heartbreaking.

Jrue and Lauren have been such incredible pillars of the community in Milwaukee & we would have been lucky to have him retire a Buck. As a diehard fan (who watched *every* game last szn while living in another country), I am so incredibly disappointed in the Milwaukee Bucks leadership.

This is most welcome news and comes after months of intense lobbying by families, NGOs, political parties and Irish America. All Irish citizens affected by all actors to the conflict must have their rights defended by the Irish government, this is practical defense of those

One of the most profoundly beautiful acts of solidarity I've seen: the indigenous guardians of the land that the McGill University occupies have given the students the right to setup their encampments on the land in fighting for a Palestine free from occupation and genocide❤️‍🔥
