It’s this that angers me!! This fuckery wording that tries to confuse people in to thinking they are helping. A freeze does not save anyone anything…it means it’s not increasing by 3p…there’s no saving…for anyone. Fuck off!!

I reckon I've seen 100 restaurants, bars or clubs shutter this Jan now (we are one week in). It's a bloodbath. That's on top of the 4500 that shut last year, the 1400 that shut in 2022. The vast majority of them independant. When will the government wake up to the fact that the

Let’s be clear, if the chancellor freezes beer duty, prices in pubs will still go up in April. Pubs will not benefit, you will not benefit…we will still see other prices go up across the board and pubs are no longer in any position to swallow this! The only way is to #CutVAT

Happy Saturday…May your local pub be busy, welcoming & have fresh flowing beer! Appreciate that, you don’t know what you have til it’s gone! 🍻

Everyone knows Labour are going to win the election, but if you’re feeling like there’s no point in voting as the outcome is a foregone conclusion, I’d like to draw your attention to something really radical that is on offer tomorrow: 1/8

100% agree. Why would we employ younger staff who need investment and training instead of ready to go experienced staff if we pay the same wage. Hospitality are first jobs for so many, they help grow confidence & responsibility. 1/2

Then theres there’s the extra financial pressure on already struggling businesses which is already too much for many to absorb. If this is implemented it has to come with mitigation to help businesses to cope with the cost, if not, many will close, others will raise prices.

When independent pubs, bars, shops, cafes & restaurants start to leave High Sts, the areas rapidly become run down & unkempt, we see barbers & vape stores where butchers & cafes once stood. Litter on streets, crime increases, tourism declines. Never underestimate small business!

Great to see that The BII are wasting no time in pressing the government on the current challenges of the industry. It’s important that we are all singing from the same hymn sheet.

While retailers may be taking businesses online, unfortunately we can’t serve you virtual pints, hospitality is again disproportionately effected. We already run on low margins. These extra costs will be unaffordable for most independents.

There’s no doubt that the alleged black hole in public finances is being filled by small businesses like hospitality, farmers, pensioners and now students. I have literally no idea what this Government are thinking…it’s a disaster.

Instead of buying a load of unwanted rubbish for Xmas, take them to the pub instead. As well as making memories, you'll be helping save the British Pub. So much better than a pair of socks.
