Teacher tip: have a student-created word wall. We’ve been cranking through vocab in Geometry. Kids in all of my classes have been working hard to create mini-posters that define vocab and provide examples. Gives the kids ownership and allows me not to make multiple anchor charts.

Honored to be a cooperating teacher for a Parkway Schools @parkwayspark senior as she completed her practicum this semester. Her little brother, one of my former students, gave me a glowing recommendation, so she asked if she could come teach with me. Proud of all her hard work!

Just stop for a minute & look around. You aren’t as stressed as you think you are. Your life is pretty amazing and can keep getting better. Focus on the good around you and how that good can grow. Smile at tomorrow and the friends, and memories you will make. Your Life is good!

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash, especially for elementary grades. Let students go home to run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

Quick brag: our back-to-school week schedule is solid. Out of 35 contract hours, only 12 of them are building/district meetings, 5 of them are hour-long lunches, and the other 18 are teacher-directed. This might be the first year that I feel comfortable for the year to begin. 🤩

Loved experiencing my first live soccer game. Very entertaining and much better than watching on tv. Plus, it was an incredible game!

Something I realized yesterday: teachers need intrinsic motivation as much as kids do. Yeah, treats and shirts and gifts are nice, but hearing (and seeing proof) that my teaching is actually making a difference in my students’ performance is what really motivates me.
