December 18, 1972: Neilia Biden, Joe Biden's first wife, and their 13-month-old daughter, Naomi Christina Biden, were killed in a car crash in Hockessin, Delaware, as Neilia Biden was driving with their three children to buy a Christmas tree.

When motorists kill people on bicycles or foot it’s not “an accident.” It is the predictable, preventable result of US policy which prioritizes the convenience *and property* of motorists over the mobility, health, safety and lives of people outside of cars. It’s a policy choice.

April 25, 2002: Singer Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes of TLC was driving a rented SUV in Honduras when she lost control. The car skidded off the road & rolled several times. There were several other passengers in the vehicle, but Lopes was the only fatality. She was 30.

July 27, 1966: The actor William Holden, driving his Ferrari near Lucca, Italy, sideswiped a Fiat 500 driven by Valerio Novelli, 42, who lost control, crashed, and was killed. Holden was convicted of vehicular manslaughter, fined $500 and had his license suspended for 6 months.

On this day, September 13, 1982: While driving home to Monaco, Oscar-winning actress/princess Grace Kelly, 52, suffered a brain hemorrhage & drove off a cliff, plummeting 100 feet down a ravine. She died the next day. Her daughter Stéphanie, who was a passenger, survived. #OTD
