Many of us never had regular periods. The Florida 6 week abortion ban can only have been written by men who dont care about women or understand how our bodies work. And if a 12 year old rape victim is forced to endure a pregnancy- what happens to her life at school? And the…

Imagine a beautiful city where a centrally located two-bedroom apartment can cost you as little as $600 a month. For many US policymakers, it’s a pipe dream. And yet in Vienna, it’s a reality via The Guardian's Kirsty Lang buff.ly/3w6k9h9

I urge everyone to watch this documentary presented by DJ/ecologist because it explains why coastal wetlands are so important in the fight against global heating plus its full of gorgeous images & great music (full disclosure I wrote the script) CNN

CNN I just love the Blue Carbon documentary. I just felt like I was in it fully. We need to have more. I am talking about the one you had for Senegal about the mangrove.

The death of Paul Auster reminds me that the Boomer generation are leaving us earlier than I expected.

There are some moving passages about this in Salman Rushdie’s Knife (underlined at speed when reviewing) in which he writes: “Death was showing up at the wrong addresses.”

When I was a TV political reporter with Newsnight & C4 News, if I'd said only a few months before a general election that I was thinking of standing in that election, I would have expected the BBC or ITN to sack me.

Writing a memoir is very vulnerable-making. Sharing the process of finding my voice & putting all that on stage is a whole other level. Making the play of Maggie & Me is a gift & I’m grateful to ALL the great folk making it happen. As it meets the world I need a break from here❤️

Paul Auster occupies space on my shelves and even more so in my imagination, mainly thanks to those brilliant paperbacks on top, all of which I devoured in my early 20s. A big loss.

We should stop feeling bad about our miserable sales: nobody buys books 'data on 58,000 titles published in a year and discovered that 90 percent of them sold fewer than 2,000 copies and 50 percent sold less than a dozen copies.' elysian.press/p/no-one-buys-…

This is a good point - the definition of affordable housing should be “less than 30 % of a household’s disposable income” and there’s very little of that available in the UK with many renters paying over 50%

Actors talking about acting can be a huge yawn. But this piece does get close to the weird bright energy of first previews, when an audience meets a company who have never done the play before head on theguardian.com/stage/2024/apr…
