I've experienced a rapid decrease in moths in my humble garden over the years and on cold nights like last night I often find just one or two in the trap Last night there was just one What I believe to be a Light Brocade

An empty moth trap this morning then the wife's eagle eye spotted this Lime Hawk Moth on nearby shrubbery First one for several years Used to get many 10 or so years ago then they dried up so pleased to see one

Two poor premier league teams trying to outdo each other by huffing and puffing without any real skill flair or intuitive artistry? That'll be Spurs v United then

Home after a week at Spurn Some good birds but generally quiet Star bird for me was Beaeater Little movement on the sea but the seabirds at Bempton always a spectacular sight The Cown & Anchor provided a suitable respite during my walks & their Sunday roast a magnificent feast

Good to see the Sand Martins thriving on the 'new' gravel workings at PaxtonNR this morning They moved on quickly last year after digging their holes but around 35 birds remained in situ this year so im guessing success after last year's failure

Things quietining down a bit at PaxtonNR Warblers - mostly Garden Chiffchaff & Blackcap - still singing but in reduced numbers Two Cuckoo joined in and a Marsh Harrier popped up over washout pit A good spot as I don't see that many in the southern end

The ponies RSPB HQ at Sandy sheltering from the heat - Looks like a scene from the old wild west times Expecting Clint and Van Cleef to appear any minute

Having watched a vast amount of tennis over the last few days I think I can safely predict there will be no Brit winning Wimbledon this year Draper the best of those with a chance but he's way off Sinner and Alacaraz I also predict no female Brit will make it to the second week
