Simon Achikgyozyan(Ded, "Grandfather"), a descendant of #ArmenianGenocide survivor family from Sebastia, Western #Armenia lead the self-defence in Martunashen during the #OperationRing. On April 30, he & Tatul Krpeyan(Getashen's unit leader) fell victim protecting the villages.

Tatul Krpeyan, the commander of self-defence units in Getashen, Northern #Artsakh during the #OperationRing, was a History teacher at the local school before the #KarabakhWar.He assigned the kids to answer this Q'n: "How to get out of the current situation?". 👇 #NKPeace

#OTD 21 Apr 1965, Tatul Krpeyan, an #Armenia'n freedom fighter, fedayi, was born in the village of Areg near Talin. He was the self-appointed leader of paramilitary units in Getashen & Martunashen villages in Shahumyan Region of Artsakh during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Tatul Krpeyan was killed on 30 April 1991 in Getashen during Operation Ring. The Moscow-based human rights group Memorial has reconstructed what happened. On 30 April 1991, 4th Army soldiers and then the Azerbaijani OMON entered Getashen near Shahumian, where Krpeyan was killed.
