Next up is another display to fill space - the graveyard of deceased words 😂 I tell students I don’t allow these words in my classroom so thought I would commemorate it with some gravestones and synonym bats... 🦇 Team English #TeamEnglish not uploaded yet but will be soon!

One of my favourite An Inspector Calls quotes: Sheila: "Impertinent is such a silly word." (Act 2) Now, IMPERTINENT is a key word in An Inspector Calls. It tells us about the class mentality of 1912. 1/

Finished the ‘Write Like a Critic’ display! It’s on a empty wall as I have no display space left. It’s free here: tes.com/teaching-resou… I have lots of other displays on there if you’re looking for inspiration!#teamenglish Team English Thanks again to @FunkyPedagogy 📚🖋🤓

A few people have asked about this. In the absence of having time to write a blog, a quick thread. First of all we started with introductions. I use a mixture of Susan Strachan and Sana ideas. We look at what makes them good examples, and practice our own.

🌟tutor time reading booklet🌟The Week Junior is a fabulous resource. The big debate page is ideal for a tutor time, oracy activity that involves some reading and then encourages students to have an opinion through debating the topic. The booklet is here: dropbox.com/s/8vkkkf4q2gi2…

🌟Creative writing: sentence models🌟 Resources in the 🧵 I've been doing lots of sentence work. Last term, I tried to write with students every lesson, just trying to build writing muscles and expose them to lots of models Inspired by Chris Youles His book is fab! 1/11

One for Team English: ‘Macbeth is interested in the line between killings that are celebrated and killings that are condemned; between legitimate and illegitimate violence.’

#TeamEnglish *please* do not spend your Easter hols making revision booklets and practice papers for your Y11s. Instead, enjoy some of my resources on Litdrive UK. Use the visualiser and drill them in Language lessons for 4 weeks. Not boring, because the extracts are fun! 1/

I don’t teach Blood Brothers at GCSE level, but my cousin does so we put together a list of quotes with some sort of analysis / explanation for each! It may help someone so thought I would share! Team English

One of the best tips I ever learned is being imparted to year 7 next year - to find the subject of a sentence, add a tag question. Teaching pupils how to do this routinely allows them to check for fragmented sentences without subjects. Probably old news - I just love it!
