Savitribai Phule along with Fatima sheikh started the first school for the disadvantaged sections of society (SC, ST, OBC). This school was set up in the house of Usman Sheikh, the brother of Fatima Sheikh.

Savitribai Phule was a great poet in her own right, she published the collections of poems as “Kavya Phule”, and “Bavankashi Subodh Ratnakar”.

Savitribai Phule set an example by adopting an orphan boy Yashwant, from her own orphan home, and raising him to be a medical doctor.

This original signature of Savitribai Phule reminds us of her contribution in changing our lives. It also gives us confidence that by educating ourselves and others we can all live a dignified life. Happy National Teachers Day.
