Had an IEP meeting two weeks ago where the counselor who was seeing one of my students basically begged the school and his parents to medicate him because of his extreme case of social anxiety; he was put up for expulsion today. For having weed on him. This is education.

RT!! Hello Everyone! I created a culture committee that’s dedicated to creating and sponsoring events for the students at our school in South Carolina. Are there any grants nationwide or local that you know of that can help us with funding??

Funny how schools haven't attempted to provide curriculum or training on remote teachin, given how problematic virtual learning was for teachers and students knowing how at any moment we could go back to virtual learning. Seems like that's the point no?

My principal just sent out an email that we can wear jeans this week only for “being flexible” after half of the teaching staff was quarantining last week. We are living in Hell.

Got some new kiddos coming in on Tuesday, what are some of your favorite first week culture building activities that you plan for your kids? Context: my school is 90% poc with 46% of them being ESOL. I teach Journalism and English IV.

Does anybody have information on what happened after the Oakland Unified School District passed the Ebonics Resolution? I searched and searched even back when I was in college but could never find out what happened after the resolution and where it all ended.

Good News Everyone! I passed Formal Evaluation! I’m an official credentialed teacher and I should have my masters done by September! 2022 is looking up right now, if I had the money to buy wine I would be celebrating hard today! 😭😭 Thank y’all for helping me through this!

My assistant principal is leaving on Friday and she has a new job not in education, 11 teaching positions were posted before this week when contracts went out. We are in a fucking crisis when it comes to education, I’m not even sure how we’re going to manage next year.

Schools moving to digital communications has so many negative consequences for low income families of color. Schools aren't sending home report cards not having open houses and then schools put out the message that families aren't supporting their kids.

Hey y’all! I told y’all last year I got an African-American Lit class approved at my district. I finally am able to teach it next year but I need some help! My first unit is Spirituals, Vernacular, and Slave Narratives. Any ideas or strategies of teaching these texts??

I'm giving my first PD on Tuesday about how to engage Black Students with Black literature. As expert teachers, readers, and writers, what should English teachers do in order to pick the right Black text for their class?
