Every time we walk into the school, we have the opportunity to be a bright spot in a student’s day. There’s a lot that we can’t control and there are days that we may feel inadequate… but we can always be the reason that a kid smiles.

“It’s humbling to think that you might be the only bright spot in someone’s day, and terrifying to think that you might not realize it.” ~ Morgan Chatham

Kids pick up on more than we realize. They will notice our mood… whether it’s a good one or a bad one. And they will notice our example… whether it’s a good one or a bad one.

Don’t get mad at the naysayers. Don’t hate the critics. Instead realize that without them you wouldn’t be as strong. If you never got sick you wouldn’t develop a strong immune system. Negative people make you more resilient, wiser and better.

My goal each day in the classroom is to be as gracious and anti-antagonistic as possible. Kids have enough issues as it is — no need in their teacher being one, too.

High expectations are meaningless unless students know how to reach them. They are achieved when students understand WHAT they need to do, WHY, and given the HOW, which are the tools, support, and encouragement to achieve them. Success/ achievement is a process not a product.

TEACHERS:1000’s of you work in schools that have been canceled in the upcoming weeks. Make it UR goal to either call every kid & say hi or write them a letter, telling them what you appreciate about them, recognize the strengths they bring to your classroom! #Significant72

It would be ashamed if education comes out of this pandemic only to return to status quo. There hasn't been an opportunity for such sweeping changes in education for the last half century. Less testing More adaptability Improved family/school partnership Let kids learn like kids
