Sometimes, when it feels like I'm having a rough day, I think about how I spend a good portion of my day discussing the rules of sonnets and why some poets may want to break those rules and how breaking those rules causes heated debates, and I realize I don't have it too bad.

And I also get to have discussions that make me repent my default "students are lazy" mindset and realize they're often willing to work but are disinterested (fair enough; I'll do what I can to make this relevant) or confused (fair enough; I'll do what I can to clear this up).

I'd have been fine with today's NYT Connections if the answers had actually made sense.
