Healthy political systems don't legislate on a whim to change reality based in objective fact by organisations with no skin in the game. The separation of these powers are in place to ensure we don't end up with a Napoleonic Executive as we seem to be heading towards at present.

Suspect it's more to do with the tendency Labour has to trash (or at best be ambivalent about) its own record in govt while in opposition. The Conservatives have been objectively desperate for 14 years, but you can guarantee that they'll defend their record to the hilt.

The Budapest Gambit is great fun, but it's a double-edged sword for Black I think as you need to know all 3 4th move deviations whereas White only needs to know 1 well (and perhaps the much rarer 3...Ne4 Fajarowicz) to have a significant say in the direction of the game.
