There's been a lot of nonsense spouted about Labour's £28bn green investment plans. And doubtless there'll be lots more nonsense spouted in the coming months. With that in mind, here's my primer on the plan - and its affordability. No nonsense. But maybe one or two charts...

It’s becoming obvious that everyone has been sold a pup with physician’s associate roles. Docs thought they were getting a helper, someone to remove some of the burden of admin and chasing for junior docs and who could also do some routine tasks (but under supervision and 1/n

This is a lucid, comprehensive summary of the unfolding scandal surrounding the misapplication of Physician Associates in the NHS. The comments add valuable colour, too. If you’ve somehow missed the last few months of #MedTwitter, you can start here. unherd.com/2024/02/why-is…

Junior docs in England have no strike dates scheduled Where are government ministers? Why are they not eager to get this dispute resolved?

It is hard to imagine a more cost-effective investment than in-work mental health and addictions services - which not only save lives, but improve productivity and reduce sickness absence. But it is another victim of short-term thinking and cost-cutting.

When I was a CMT1 I was in a godawful post where I ended up driving to a lake to drown myself after work one late night after finishing. The Trust's Occupational Health sole suggestion was that I talk to my non existent supervisor "if I was struggling".

Everyone's talking about the frustration of journalists and politicians who will have to cancel their holidays, but spare a thought for the ones who were looking forward to the Elden Ring DLC. #GeneralElection

I can see that there are big differences in opinion about the offer that the BMA will put to junior doctors. Regardless, it is inarguably the biggest achievement the in 18 months of the dispute - the first actual, negotiated offer! Seemed impossible a few weeks ago.

It's surprising to see how many people are commenting on Twitter on the boxer Imane Khelif. As a doctor, I would argue that you can't make factually correct statements without: 1. Full access to medical records and test results; 2. Detailed knowledge of the relevant IOC guidance.
