Disabled people don’t ‘overcome their disability’. When disabled people succeed, what they overcome are societal barriers. Important to acknowledge and reframe in this way if we are to shift perceptions and raise awareness of what really disables people 🚫 🌎

The longer I’m on this planet, the more I realise that people are just out for themselves. Which is fine when you’re able bodied and can fend for yourself, if perhaps disheartening at its worst. But, when you’re disabled and you rely on others, it’s shit and exhausting.

PA’s who constantly moan. Don’t you just love them? 🙄 #takingthedis

I think it’s so underestimated the effects on mental health a PA can have, both positive and negative effects. And knowing how to strike the balance between having a good relationship but not being taken for a ride either. Finding it utterly exhausting at the moment #takingthedis

What do you even do when you’ve got a PA who is going ‘out out’ and giving no consideration to the fact that you’re more vulnerable? Technically they’re doing nothing wrong, but I feel uncomfortable & am being made out to be crazy when I try & then cancel them #takingthedis

Ever feel completely manipulated by a PA? They’re claiming that we ‘agreed’ to go out for food tonight… obviously at my expense. We definitely didn’t, but I’ve ended up compromising… at my expense #takingthedis #PAsAreExhausting

So because of my speech impairment I can struggle sometimes with voice level and projection. I got accused tonight by a family member for “trying to start an argument”. Hand on heart I wasn’t, it literally just came out too loud. Urgh #takingthedis
