An often overlooked and underappreciated creature, the humble snail 💚

Did you know they can find food and mates by smell and taste alone?

Take half an hour this evening and see what species of marvellous molluscs you can find! 🔍 wildaboutgardens.org.uk

This map of shipwrecks is a good first-pass map for shipworms, a group of marine bivalve molluscs in the family Teredinidae.

Nature is Amazing ☘️ Nail snails are known to be 22 times more nutritious than pork and have many delicious ways to prepare them.
Nail snails, also known as saw snails, have the English name Solenidae. This is a family of molluscs, living in sand and mud in estuaries and around waters close to large…

I should have been a pair of ragged claws
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas.

But there's absolutely no way
Mrs Painter would put up with that.

The carpet would get completely mired
In molluscs.

Apparently.

Do you ever wonder if all the things they say about nuclear molluscs rising up to take over the world are really true?

👏 Incredible work from an Essex University scientist who helped discover over 100 new ocean animals off New Zealand!

Three fish, squid, molluscs and even a new type of coral are some of the new species identified from the project 🐙🐟🦀 🪸🚨

Lorna Gallagher Read …up …on it? There’s little point in reading any of their output particularly when it’s driven by green ideology and lies. They have closed minds of the worst kind with the intellectual capacity of molluscs.
They don’t even communicate to their own - just ask Kate Forbes?

The whole tide edge of this salt lake was caramel coloured.
Even in the dull light of today it was so striking.
Up close it turned out to be millions of native Coxiella stratia (Salt Lake Snail) shells.
These molluscs feed stilts, shoveller ducks & lake edge reptiles.

Orange also exists in molluscs, for example this saltwater species (Argopecten purpuratus).

You can most commonly see it in purplish or brownish colours on a white background, but other colours like yellow and also exists. 🐚🧡

How to make friends with molluscs:

🐌 Create habitats with log piles and mulch
🐌 Choose plants like lavender, rosemary & hellebores, which are less likely to be eaten
🐌 Relocate any slugs & snails to compost heaps
