It took me 59 days to complete my 1021 km virtual run across Tennessee. I did most of my runs on the trails in North Vancouver. My reward is to attempt the return trip before the end of August. #gvrat1000k
Today I finished the Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee out-and-back! 2,000 kilometers since May 1! Hops and Guac both joined me for a little distance tonight. T-5 days to the Wildcat 100 miler π¬ #gvrat1000k
#GVRAT1000k day 120. The photo is on yet another of my 'secret unknown trails' in Copeland Forest yesterday in which I have known personally for over 40 years. Love seeing the fallen deadwood, knowing the vital importance it plays in the forest ecosystem. #ThisWillBeAThread π³
#GVRAT1000k day 94. So much rain. Went to a very flat reforestation area that has trees all the same height to reduce a chance lightning strike. Big puddles to skirt, but prefer this to roads where vehicles go an arm length past me at 100+kph / 34.30k. Thanks for your support! π§οΈ
#GVRAT1000k day 97. I'm a very strong advocate for bees, but this guy was unappreciative. Got stung, but my own fault. Picking berries & didn't see it in the bushes. Bee stayed around so got a picture of it to identify. Fortunate I'm quite mild. Haven't met mileage for day yet.
#GVRAT1000k day 97 last tweet. A small blister from yesterdays rain grew to a big blister from wrong shoe choice. The shoes I use still soaked yesterdays rain. Went home & did a crude duct tape repair & shoe 1 size bigger from when I had Plantar Fasciitis last year. Worked 35.73k
#GVRAT1000k day 107. Machinery quiet today. So I went in to see the forest I've gotten to know & love for 28 yrs. before it is changed. Sad to see some towering pine trees I've grown attached to with marks to be logged. These trees got hugs, a thank you & a final goodbye. 44.12k
#GVRAT1000k day 90. Not going to find a more gorgeous field of Queen Anne's Lace anywhere. Interesting tidbit I learned, starlings line their nest with it. It contains the steroid B-sitosterol, which kills off fowl mite. How the starlings know this is a mystery! 40.05k's ππ¦πΊ
