June 26th 1982: A great day for the Falklands task force as four and a half tons of mail from home is delivered to HMS Hermes. Most people spend all day reading letters from home, although pilots remain on CAP duty. Despite the tranquility, Argentina still hasn't declared peace.
June 28th 1982: Prince Charles visits Falklands wounded at the Royal Hospitals of Gosport & Plymouth over today and tomorrow, distributing the new Bell's Royal Whisky to wounded servicemen, which toasts the birth and naming of the newly born Prince William.
June 28th 1982: RFA Fort Austin arrives back in Plymouth from the Falklands war. A true workhorse of the Task Force... And no, this isn't her in Plymouth, before someone says it, because i can't find one, but it's a great shot 😊
A boy was out for a hike in a swamp, when he stumbled upon something that’d been buried for decades. After getting people to help dig, they uncovered a WWII tank. But what was even more surprising was what was inside of it.
Perhaps a good time to reflect that so many are coming home with us as a result of the great work of Surgeon Commander Rick Jolly & his teams. Operating with live bombs in the building, they saved many lives on both sides. He was an inspirational officer & boss!
