It's another nice evening so a last minute decision to motor down the M74 to see the South of Scotland Football League encounter between Dalbeattie Star Football Club and Abbey Vale. The beautiful Islecroft Stadium is another of my favourites.

Out at the football, with tonight's entertainment being the West of Scotland Football League 🏴 League Cup semi between Shotts Bon Accord Football Academy and Darvel FC at the characterful Hannah Park. The visitors are strong favourites to progress to Sunday's final.

Game 1️⃣4️⃣9️⃣: Dalbeattie Star 2-3 Abbey Vale. Surprise win for Abbey Vale, especially given they trailed 2-0 at one stage. It means Dalbeattie Star Football Club's title bid will go to the final game v Creetown even if they beat bottom side Wigtown in their next one.

Pie review: Scotch Pie, Dalbeattie Star Football Club. A run of crap pies ends with this one. Local butcher artisan vibes, a traditional filling... what's not to like? Particularly well seasoned, avoiding the pitfall of blandness.

Game 1️⃣4️⃣8️⃣: Shotts Bon Accord 1-1 Darvel. Darvel won 4-3 on penalties. Shotts Bon Accord Football Academy battled back from a goal down to deservedly take this to a shoot out. Darvel FC had the better chances to win it in 90 minutes. Good cup tie.

Pie review: Kebab Pie, Hampden Park. These have improved since the last time I had one. 'Meat' is sliced thinner, there's a bit more sauce and it's not as harsh. Balance still not right but better. Pastry slightly underdone on this specimen.

Pie review: Steak Pie, Shotts Bon Accord Football Academy. The 'Bonny Bistro' has a prodigious, good value product range. This wasn't a good pie though. Very dry, very light on filling. The mouthfeel of a cream cracker. The cheeseburgers are much better.

Enjoyable first half in Dalbeattie. Title contenders Dalbeattie Star Football Club established a 2-0 lead, but Abbey Vale have got themselves back into with a goal and might have equalised before half time.

A decent first half from Aberdeen FC. Off to the best possible start with the Miovski goal they have contained Celtic well and carried a threat of their own. The better side for me, but the error for Celtic Football Club's goal was one of those you can't legislate for.

Game 1️⃣4️⃣7️⃣: Aberdeen 3-3 Celtic. Celtic won 6-5 on penalties. A game that had everything, even a goalie injury in the shoot out! Never say die Aberdeen FC scored equalisers late in normal time and extra time but fell short in the end. Att 45,385

Extra time required at Hampden. Celtic Football Club bossed the second half after Aberdeen FC had the better of the first half. Forrest's goal looked like a winner for Celtic, but a late Sokler header gave the Dons a deserved 2-2 draw. Excellent entertainment.

It's Scottish Gas Scottish Cup semi final weekend and I always like to get along to one or other.
It's looking very much like an all Glasgow final, but hoping to see Aberdeen FC upset the odds by seeing off Celtic Football Club today and Hearts to do the business tomorrow.

Some Friday afternoon football for me today, as Motherwell FC and Heart of Midlothian FC contest an Under 18 Club Academy Scotland Elite league game at Dalziel Park in Carfin. Not a level I watch often, so should be interesting.

Game 1️⃣4️⃣6️⃣: Motherwell 2-0 Heart of Midlothian. A decent game, won with two late goals, with the second virtually the last kick of the game. Thought for a long while it might end goalless although both sides had chances and hit the woodwork.

An open game in Newmains. Decent entertainment if lacking finesse. Royal Albert FC took a two goal lead, and have been the better side, but Newmains United Community FC got one back from the spot and have had chances to equalise. More goals expected after the break.

Pie review: Scotch Pie, Newmains United Community FC. I'm sure I knew they served Bell's pies here, but they never fail to disappoint. Chicken curry versions also on sale. My greatest wish is for football clubs to stop selling these things.

Game 1️⃣4️⃣5️⃣: Newmains United 1-3 Royal Albert. I felt Newmains United Community FC had the better of the second half but they couldn't find an equaliser, and when Royal Albert FC notched their third goal with about fifteen minutes to go it was game over.
