For #ZaraAleena . For Sarah Everard. For Sabina Nessa. And all those who were just trying to get home. Every woman deserves to feel and be safe #SafelyHomeInOurShoes
How utterly beautiful and generous that at a time like this, #ZaraAleena 's family sent their love to Ashling Murphy and the families of other women who have been victims of violence against women.
Stop killing us.
Iโve spent my whole life scared of walking home at night, changing out of my heels and into trainers always made me feel safer. As a society we need to more directly confront the causes of male violence and rage towards women. Love to the family and friends of #ZaraAleena
The โฆMayor of London, Sadiq Khanโฉ on the terrible murder of #ZaraAleena is correct;
โus men must look at our own behaviour in relation to misogyny, sexism & to finally end the violence that exists to girlsโ
Mr Khan have you ever spoken up against the Pakistani rape gangs of white girls?
Cllr Khayer Chowdhury Thinking of Zaraโs loved ones and those of Sarah Everard, Sabina Nessa and all women murdered by men in our capital and beyond. RIP #SayHerName #ZaraAleena ๐๐พ
My mum used to tell me that in 1960โs London if police saw you walking out in the evening theyโd make sure you were safe and escort you home. Police drove past #ZaraAleena and didnโt stop to see if sheโs ok and escort her home. 4 mins later she was killed.
Once again, people victim blaming #ZaraAleena for walking home late at night
Have we already forgotten #BobbiAnneMcLeod ย waiting for a bus at 6pm
#juliajames walking her dog at 4pm
#AshlingMurphy jogging at 4pm
#GracieSpinks tending her horse at 8.40am
What time is safe?
The unfathomable pain inflicted by a strangerโs inhuman brutality to their precious daughter echos in every line of this tribute
As a woman, a mother, a sister & as a human, I stand with her family.
Rest in power #ZaraAleena .
Our fight to stop VAWG continues. #EnoughIsEnough
Zara Aleena was beaten to death walking home and people are questioning why she was walking home at that time, so what? Women donโt have a curfew time, she should have been able to walk home any time without any fear of being attacked! #ZaraAleena
IF YOU ARE UNABLE to attend the vigils being launched to mark the murder of #ZaraAleena , please join us in sharing a picture of your shoes with the hashtag #SafelyHomeInOurShoes .
Because no matter our destination, or the shoes, every woman and girl deserves to travel fearlessly.
Another young woman's life taken by a man, when she was walking home at night. Rest in peace Zara, know that so many women are furious that you were not safe to just walk home โฅ #ZaraAleena
An article in #TheGuardian June 2019 says that #Grayling โs privatisation of the probation service was an unmitigated disaster which left the public at great risk from ex-offenders released from jail. How sadly prophetic. #bbcnews #zaraaleena
As we walked Zaraโs route home today with family, friends and the wider community. We remember all the women that have been lost to misogyny and hate crime.
We stood together today to show that we will not be silenced and we will never forget. #ZaraAleena
ripx4nutmeg Claudia Webbe MP Britain is Bonkers There have been multiple serial attackers/killers of women and 5 of gay men, just in London in my own adult lifetime. #ZaraAleena was targeted because she was a woman. There was a multiple homicide incident in a gay & lesbian club this morning in Colorado, & #VAWG is endemic. ๐คฌ
