Women choose the bear because the bear doesn't pretend to be a good guy just to hurt you

A bear doesn't stalk you for years when you avoid it

A bear won't rape you

You can be cautious of ALL bears & not have other bears wanting you dead as a result

Bears are more predicable

Resharing this as a reminder. Most women first learned to be scared of men when they were children. It's a lesson men made sure girls & women learned often, w/o challenge from other men. Bears may be stronger but they haven't been a deliberate, incessant threat our whole lives.

If you think it's funny that women are scared of male violence, ask a woman how old she was the *first* time a random man made her feel like she might not go home. Clearly many need to ask since women haven't trusted them to share their stories. (They were probably kids btw.)

And this my friends, is why we have so many women being killed. Disrespect for women is a key driver of violence against women. When men in power demean women it normalises this behaviour.

Men: How dare you assume a random man in the woods could be dangerous

Also men: What did you expect when you went out wearing that, getting drunk, going out alone at night, going back to his place, inviting him back to your place, not covering your drink?

Dr. Laura Marie Grimes I totally get that.
I just think it’s amazing so many guys feel so threatened by women’s choices and don’t have any interest in finding out why.

The thing about this whole “Man or Bear” question is how many men won’t listen to women’s comments, refuse to take them seriously, invalidate their thoughts, feelings and experiences, lecturing them instesd, demonstrating why so many women would rather be in a forest with a bear.

When my nephew was little he developed such a phobia of lightning he was too afraid to go outside even during a drizzle. He didn't even want to step in a puddle after a storm. I didn't scream at him, call him paranoid or stupid, or tell him I hoped he'd get struck by lightning.

Ozcarp 🇬🇧🇦🇺🇺🇸 Antonia Look, I've lived as a man and as a woman so I should know better than most the differences therein. Men, all men, even the kind ones, started treating me noticeably worse when I became a woman. I dont have the privilege of ignoring misogyny like you do, cuz its pointed at me.

The way they always say men and female

Not men and women
Or male and female

Men and female
Because they think we are less human or dogs
