Check out this fascinating cavalry altar discovered at the Vindolanda Roman Fort during spring excavations in 2021. We used clay that mimics the gritty texture of the original to recreate it. Get yours now! buff.ly/3121KCt

Due to the benevolence of the Wall gods, I happened to visit Vindolanda Trust this morning with an Archaeology at NCL fieldtrip, to see the newly discovered phallus! A fine example of the splitcock type from the Collins phallus typology, and Vindolanda's ?16th stone phallus carving

Did you know that you can only buy my cards in 3 places? at Crown Studio Gallery in Rothbury, in my online shop crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com OR Vindolanda Trust (though understandably Vindolanda only stocks the Hadrian's Wall themed ones!)

One of the most famous inscriptions from Roman antiquity is from Vindolanda, a fort along Hadrian’s Wall in northern Britain. This is the so-called “birthday letter” of Claudia Severa, who was writing to her friend Sulpicia Lepidina around 100 CE.

Particularly delighted by the oldest known example of women's handwriting in the world: the post-script on a birthday invitation from Claudia Severa, whose husband was stationed at Vindolanda in the north of England.

Stu Cameron I’ll never forget - prior to the 2016 election I was volunteering at Vindolanda and everyone kept asking me if I thought Trump would win. I said I refuse to believe that is possible. So non-Americans cared even then, before we knew just how awful he was.

The eternal dilemma of historical or time travel writers. I had my heroine archaeologist have a fascination with Roman sandals due to the number excavated at Vindolanda. I slip it in as a joke thru the series. How do you manage it?
