Today's #UABCyto case: 73 y/o M with a gastric mass. FNA shows a cellular specimen with discohesive pleomorphic cells with prominent nucleoli and some cytoplasmic pigment. Positive Sox-10 confirming the diagnosis of metastatic melanoma (from a scalp primary). Brooke Bartow PGY2

Today's #UABcyto case of the week from Lisa Bianco, DO: 33 y/o F w/an esophageal mass. FNA shows highly cellular specimen w/clusters of uniform cells w/abundant granular cytoplasm & small nuclei, as well as many bare nuclei on a granular background. This is a granular cell tumor

#UABCyto case by Dr. Caroline Stanek: 60 y/o F. Pleural effusion. Clusters of mildly atypical cells w/out classic features of macrophages/mesothelial cells. Rare intranuclear inclusions in CB. MOC31, BerEp4, Calretinin, TTF-1, and Pax8 positive, c/w metastatic thyroid carcinoma.

#UABCyto case from Dr. Alyssa Lee: Older patient w/ R chest wall mass (9 cm). Atypical discohesive cells in a background of abundant chondroid material, consistent with a cartilaginous neoplasm. Surg path compatible with chondrosarcoma grade 1.
