We need a Hillsborough Law. Now.

35 years afterwards we have had the truth but not accountability. Prosecutions of police who changed witness statements to cover up what happened failed because the judge said there was no legal duty to tell the truth to an inquiry: that has to change. We need a #HillsboroughLaw

A Hillsborough law should be a priority for the incoming Labour government, but Starmer's words sit uncomfortably with his eagerness to write for the S*n.

On the 35th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, we remember the 97 people unlawfully killed.

A duty on all public bodies to be forthcoming with the truth is a basic requirement if justice is to be done in the wake of terrible events that scar communities.

That is why The Labour Party supports a duty of candour and the Hillsborough Law Now campaign.

I'm disappointed that the government has refused to commit to the implementation of a Hillsborough Law in today's report.

A requirement for honesty from public officials, and fairly funded support for bereaved families to participate in inquiries shouldn't be too much to ask.

Today marks 35 years since the Hillsborough disaster, which resulted in the deaths of 97 innocent football fans.

I support a Hillsborough Law, so that bereaved families in tragic circumstances such as these are entitled to transparency and justice.

The government's proposed Independent Public Advocate falls far short of what the Hillsborough families have called for.

It won't be independent and it won't have the powers it needs.

It's time to implement the #HillsboroughLaw in full now.
