My takeaway for #CarersRightsDay is that we have little, or no rights. No right to dignity for us and the person(s) we care for; our rights as family members eroded; our right to stay in work, or survive out of work on Carer's allowance/UC been eroded to the point of collapse
Today on #CarersRightsDay Carers Scotland are launching new research on the health and support for #unpaidcarers . It shows worrying results with too many carers facing poor health and a lack of both healthcare and social care support.

This is one of the statistics that I find most worrying. Lack of replacement care means that carers are not turning up for screening appts, and delaying much needed hospital procedures. Failure to support carers is unfortunately leading to some fatal consequences. #CarersRightsDay

The census estimated that 5 million people are unpaid carers.
We think it’s even higher because a lot of people don’t realize that they are a carer!
I’ve never known a time like it. Waiting lists for equipment, difficulty accessing social work, ever tightening eligibility for social care, little real change in Carers Allowance (Scotland) and NHS in crisis. Enough. #CarersRightsDay
