Batagur kachuga got included in Appendix I of the CITES in the CoP19 held at Panama recently. It’s similarity with red eared sliders brought it in illegal pet trade. Also poached for its meat. Heard a code name ‘Tilak Dhari’ for Batagur while investigating a case. Shailendra Singh PhD
