This afternoon, Students were also able to discover the Curiosity mini field microscope. This pocket-sized microscope allows real observations and image acquisition! The students then discovered different image annotation tools such as EcoTaxa and Biigle.

Had the amazing opportunity to use #BIIGLE image annotating software to measure the species richness and relative abundance of predatory fish at Jarvis Island. Lots of work is being done to transform this into an automated process using machine learning.

Attending #BIIGLE user meeting to understand the new features available for annotating #deepsea #benthic creatures after working with this program for over 5 years. Incredible work being done to make annotating large volumes of imagery quicker and more accurate.

Might not be in Sweden right now but I have really enjoyed my alternative, learning how to use #BIIGLE to analyse stills taken from ROV footage 🪸🐠. Even more exciting to spot some Chimaeras, a close relative to sharks, yay! Thanks Prof Kerry Howell for all the help. University of Plymouth #MBIO

Delivering a workshop for the MSc Marine Science and Climate Change students at University_Gibraltar on identifying and enumerating #marinelitter in deep sea environments and submarine canyons using BIIGLE

It's hard to imagine I was where they are now only a year ago!

Campus UPC Vilanova and ICM-CSIC host the Erasmus+ IntoTheDeep workshop teaching participants about 4 deep sea marine habitats and train users in a new web-based tool to make species observations in sea floor videos. thedeepproject.eu lead by inter-change.eu. #Biigle

For the past 2 weeks, I had the coolest experience teaching the macrobio section of a multidisciplinary course in Milos 🇬🇷 surveying shallow water hydrothermal vents. We used #bluerov and a #GoPro to study the comms and annotated the footage with #BIIGLE
