It's strange all of the School of Leonardo da Vinci's reproductions of Salvator Mundi and other reproductions were red and none blue. Are art scholars positive the original was blue? I'm painting a reproduction and I wonder. All pics public domain.

So, dreaming of fame as an artist, Oleksandr moves from Chernihiv to Kyiv to live with his uncle Mykola Murashko, the founder of the Kyiv Drawing School. It was one of the first art institutions in Ukraine.

The future artist was born in Kyiv and was an illegitimate child. Murashko got his surname from his stepfather, who was an icon painter. As a young man, Oleksandr helped his stepfather in the workshop. However, in those days, icon painting was not considered an art, but a craft.
