Well in 2016-2018 there was this show called Voltron Legendary Defender on NX and fans within that fandom tried REALLY hard to bring to light how toxic shit was with all the threats, harassment to staff but everyone laughed it off bc it was 'shipping shit' and did nothing so

I'm not joking, once people saw you can just harass VOs, artists, showrunners, fellow fans, it spread to other fandoms quickly. Ppl TRIED warning everyone what was happening, tried reaching out to big fandom accts, influencers and YTers and most of them didn't take it seriously

But y'know, the people who had the platform said they are 'Tax paying adults' and find this all really 'cringe'. That mindset is why we're here right now. What y'all are experiencing is what MANY of us were dealing with for YEARS on Soc Med. It just hadn't hit your faves yet.

So for many new/young fans this IS how fandom has always been. THIS is normal. And now your faves are getting it by this shit. But for many of us we saw this happening to our faves for YEARS. My advice, keep talking, make videos, get loud. Welcome to the Discourse.
