Absolutely brilliant response from Mick Lynch. Especially one for all the commentators who are obsessed wth the charicature of a national-authoritarian working class and who like to argue that humane immigration policies are just a demand of a cosmopolitan elite.

Liberals retrospectively approve of basically all societal progress that was often initiated or at least pushed for in student protests. But while these protests are unfolding they show a level of authoritarian condescension and hostility that they don't even have for the right.

The current Labour leadership is a mix of openly anti-LGBTQ people and those who are too cowardly to stand up for LGBTQ rights. I can't see how queer people should still trust this party and vote for them. The blackmail position 'otherwise you'll get the Tories' is not enough.

I've reported from northern France on this subject many times, including in aftermath of the terrible November 2021 deaths. Spend 30 mins in these places and people will tell you they know the risks, which include death. Rwanda seems trivial by comparison. youtube.com/watch?v=VSH_pZ…

So the Rwanda bill becomes law, with Britain now an inspiration to the extreme right in Europe while undermining the rule of law at home.
Legislating that Ruanda is a safe country after the Supreme Court stated it is not, remains a dangerous precedent.
