I’m in Durham tonight to debate “Palestinian Leadership is the biggest barrier to peace” Only the University just caved in to a fascist mob and cancelled the debate at last minute Free speech died in Durham tonight! They’re afraid of hearing the truth @uklfi ⁦David Collier⁩

Breaking: Students Durham University locked inside the debating chamber for nearly 3 hours now, as anti Israel thugs surround building, bang on windows and doors and sing songs about the destruction of Israel. Why aren't the police getting students out safely?

As a former president of the The Durham Union, I am very disappointed to learn of this turn of events. The Union was founded almost 200 years ago to uphold and protect free speech, yet tonight the university has shut down an event due to protest. Durham must do better.

As a Past President and as a believer in debate I am deeply concerned that free speech at The Durham Union was prevented last night as a result of deliberate protest intent on stopping proceedings. This is just wrong.
