There is no such thing as being β€œpro-life” while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place. It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.

Heartbroken πŸ’” For the families and incredibly grateful to live in Australia at this moment I wish for US to stand up and put the laws in place to protect their communities

I am forever grateful that Australia, in a moment of reckoning, chose to make the country safer from the risk of mass shootings and gun violence. That is a tremendous legacy but not an issue we should ever become complacent about. Thinking of grieving families in the US tonight.

A friend remembers your favorite food. A true friend tells you when you have food in your teeth. Part of caring about people is helping them see their blind spots and shielding them from embarrassment. Honesty from a friend is not a betrayal or attack. It's an act of kindness.

Strong emotions can help to explain behavior, but they don't excuse misbehavior. You can't always control what you feel. You do get to decide whether, when, and how you express it. A mark of emotional intelligence is being thoughtful about the impact of your moods on others.

We are not powerless. Here’s what I’m fighting for: Expanding our Senate majority so we can eliminate the filibuster & codify Roe. Expanding the Supreme Court to rebalance this institution. Defending abortion rights in states through ballot measures and downballot elections.

US family and friends Have your feelings And channel them where you can influence this debate! The rest of us watch on helplessly with horror and sorrow You can do this!

Today, the 'Iron Deficiency and Outcomes in Cardiac Surgery (IDOCS)' study was published in The Lancet Haematology. I wanted to talk about why our group at ANZCA Clinical Trials Network performed this study, what we found, and what we think it means. Behold, a thread... 🧡 thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/…

Honesty isn't just a moral decision. It's a healthy choice. Experiments: avoiding lying for 10 weeks improves mental health by building stronger bonds. Honesty brings unexpected joy and connection. Lies erode trust. We count on people who tell the truth. Candor fuels closeness.

This is great news, but we need to support GPs to actually do this work! It takes >20min to determine eligibility, check interactions, dose adjust concurrent meds, dose adjust antivirals and counsel pts about taking a brand new medication! We need telephone long consults back!

What others say doesn't directly affect your emotions. Between their words and your feelings is your interpretation of their intention. Agency lies in the space between stimulus and response. A sign of emotional intelligence is recognizing your power to change your assumptions.

Dr Sylvia Hanania πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰ (@sylvhanania) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The interpretation is not just arrogant its wrong, if this were true, only 36.8% of patients would have more than 6 mental health sessions billed in a year, as further sessions require review by the GP whether the Medicare item number is billed or not!

Adam Bandt (@adambandt) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If doctors can't afford to bulk bill, we don't have universal healthcare. Simple as that. This government has a choice: fund universal healthcare, or let Australia become a user-pays, health-for-the-wealthy system like we see in the USA.

Being judgmental is not about how quickly you form opinions. It’s how certain you are of them. Strong convictions from weak info reflect arrogance. Holding views lightly and revising them rapidly reveals humility. Wisdom often ends in a question mark, not an exclamation point.

Adam Grant (@adammgrant) 's Twitter Profile Photo

"That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it" is a self-limiting way to live. People who never let go of their views never evolve. Growth is not just about embracing new ideas. It's also about rethinking old ones. Refusing to change your mind is a decision to stop learning.

Adam Grant (@adammgrant) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The people who are nice to you aren’t always being kind to you. Saying what you want to hear is nice. People sugarcoat feedback to make you feel good today. Sharing what you need to hear is kind. People speak honestly to help you do better tomorrow. Candor is an act of care.

Adam Grant (@adammgrant) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Precedent is a poor reason for decisions. It calcifies the status quo without a compelling rationale. It doesn’t matter how long a tradition has stood. If the old way is wrong, it should be challenged and changed. Progress lies in improving the future, not defending the past.

Confirmation bias is twisting the facts to fit your beliefs. Critical thinking is bending your beliefs to fit the facts. Seeking the truth is not about validating the story in your head. It's about rigorously vetting and accepting the story that matches the reality in the world.
