As coaches, we must be in constant communication with our players letting them know how they are doing and what it is that they need to improve. This will help not only create stronger relationship with our kids, but also help them progress in their playing careers.

Too often we see coaches demonstrate a lack of confidence and trust in their players. If we show that we believe in them, they will believe in themselves!

Great curriculum requires great teaching; great teaching requires great curriculum. Got to develop them both together and in synergy.

But GPS marketed the partnership the other way around, as have many other youth clubs around the country over the years... THAT part needs to change.

How much further do we have to go in the USA? We had to specially request to change the TV to the #UefaChampionsLeague final, but the pub had the Little League World Series on by default.

That kind of thing is especially effective if doing it doesn't cause the whole lesson to go off the rails. It's why procedures and routines are so important. They let you give autonomy & then bring it back easily.

A COACH’S CONFESSIONS: I gave too many post-match speeches as a young coach. Mostly, I think, to get the long list of ideas off my chest. Instead consider shaking hands, sending them off to loved ones, and looking forward to more learning and joy on Monday. #TOVO

It’s such a cool testament to the development of women’s pro soccer that players are now (more often) leaving college early to go pro

Read a quote from a HS coach in local paper. He compared his key player to Magic Johnson. Until all HS & youth coaches can make accurate soccer-based references, our country won't compete globally (and the women will continue to lose their head start). Our #1 obstacle is cultural

DEAR PARENTS: Do not equate a club having the best players with the club having the best development program. Many humble clubs carry players from baseline to better in more meaningful ways than clubs with power logos. #TOVO
