Planning our students’ in-person arrival is an enormously important task, so our staff is going the distance to make this transition as smooth and seamless as possible – even participating in a ‘student for a day’ activity capturing what new life looks like upon their return.

This small group of student news reporters spent countless hours during and after school, working hard with professionals from PBS News Student Reporting Labs, and their teachers Susan Mongold, MLIS, M.Ed. and Angela Whorton, to make sure their stories were heard and ready for T.V.

Our 6th graders’ final project of the year was jam packed with cultural education, web development, and global literacy. 🌍

The Global Threads project focused on engaging with local members of Akron’s Karen and Congolese refugee community in their language arts, media tech, and social studies classes. Everything learned was documented, developed and published to their website for the public to see!
