September Rainfall Figures are in. Appreciate some of them need quality Control / checking but these figures over such a wide area are simply staggering . Phenomenal totals, some locations not only seeing their wettest sept on record, but their wettest month on record.

Phenomenal rainfall for Sept over Cent and S England into Midlands. Additional heavy rainfall events into Oct bring heightened risk of flooding vs a typical early Oct, due to wet soils.

We flew over Hurricane Milton about 90 minutes ago. Here is the view out the Dragon Endeavour window. Expect lots of images from this window as this is where I’m sleeping while we wait to undock and return to Earth. Timelapse coming in a separate post. 1/6400 sec, f8, ISO 500

Walked south along most of the Malvern Hills ridge last Friday. Bit of an annual pre-Xmas tradition in our family! Weather was fantastic for end of November. Very fortunate.

Amazing display of #StormDarragh aftermath, discovered up on #Exmoor #Somerset... where the wild conditions blasted this fence with hay, leaving nature's own woven version of 'rattan furniture'. Thanks to Mark Small for the pics... BBC Somerset

After over a week of completely cloudy weather here, this weekend has brightened up and has ended with an epic Sunday evening sunset over Tring reservoirs. A reminder that winter photography in UK can present great opportunities.... occasionally!

Classic wintertime low-level inversion over the UK Midlands today, dramatically demonstrated by pictures taken at about 350m altitude on Malvern Hills at lunchtime. Very sharp temp/humidity gradient between 300m and 450m altitude. Worcester Becon is ~425m. Pics via my brother!

Let's hope ECMWF 12z deterministic run is incorrect with the pattern. It's predicting 250-350mm of rain over the next 15 days over the high ground in Wales. And this is global scale model that won't necessarily capture the orographic enhancement of rainfall over some upslopes!

One of the coldest weeks in Texas in the last 30 years, aided by a decent and rare snowfall in SE Texas (into Louisana). But not as cold as the infamous mid-Feb 2021 cold plunge, that caused chaos with power supply and demand. x.com/metdesk/status…

What a monster. The wintertime N Atlantic at its most ferocious. Very strong jet stream via the recent USA cold plunge, NE Atlantic SSTs widely near record warmth, surface low originating from deep subtropics, sharp 500mb shortwave upper trough from Greenland. Fireworks!
