I was in path heaven this weekend. A few highlights of a perfect few days on the extraordinary ways and byways of Dorset 👇

On Friday morning, we popped into Little Toller Books in Beaminster. We got chatting about 'goyles', the ravines of the area. So we went to visit one after, with my Little Toller 🇺🇦🇵🇸 book haul.

And then to the main path event - the holloways of the Symondsbury Estate. The glorious 'Shute's Lane'.

And the almost overwhelming 'Hell Lane'. A true 'inverted cathedral'. A great human imprint on the land.

Today I needed to get my feet tramping and my heart pumping and touch the land and its paths. Like this wonderfully shaggy medieval holloway with its invisible but unquiet multitudes. #HollowayWednesday

Waddon Way, Loders has been closed for a number of years and it being gradually reclaimed by nature. Trailing vegetation hangs down in the #holloway. The entrance to the lane is being used for spoil. Holloways & Sunken Lanes

Dinah’s Hollow in Dorset is a huge #holloway that has become a busy road - considering it a risk to traffic through bank collapse #dorsetcouncil plan to remove trees and stabilise the banks with this enormous engineering project. #sunkenlanes #holloway dorsetecho.co.uk/news/24442077.…

Blashy weather and clashy ground, the only thing to do is head down a dark, donk hidden holloway.
