I've written a new article presenting my independent research on Ishtar in the Akkadian Descent of Ishtar and the fairytale Sleeping Beauty, in which I ponder whether Ishtar could be the original Sleeping Beauty. Just a thought. #ClassicsTwitter Link: medium.com/@sophieoverton…

So excited to have arrived at Cambridge University to start my MPhil in Assyriology on a full scholarship for 'talented' students from low-income backgrounds awarded to me by Cambridge University and Newnham College. I'm beyond grateful for this opportunity and I can't wait to start.

I wrote a monologue offering a reinterpretation of Persephone as a usurper of the Underworld. Never trust a girl who uses pollen as warpaint, wears a toga covered in nettles and makes a scythe from sticks. Scythes sharp enough to slice a god's skin. - S.O
