Day 2 of Guy Walters 🇺🇦 Colditz & Stalag Luft 3 tour. A trip to to the camp then following the course of the escapees. Poor weather that added greatly added weight to the huge obstacles these men had to face.

15th October 1945. Gunner Hector Murdoch arrives home after 3.5 years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp, one of 85000 soldiers captured when Singapore surrendered. Apparently his son John is still alive age 85.

Days 3 & 4 (1) of the Colditz & Stalag Luft 3 tour with Guy Walters 🇺🇦. Gorlitz, the Gestapo HQ where some of the recaptured escapees were interrogated. Then Colditz castle, the theatre, escape room showing some of the tools, a sewing machine, a copier & the glider. Peak ingenuity!

Photograph taken in England in 1967 during filming of the movie ‘The Battle of Britain’. Special guests visiting the set including former BoB pilots and their former commander Hugh Dowding (in the wheelchair). Dowding passed away less than 3 years after this photo was taken.
