Simple strategy to determine if it’s you, or variance: For a month, chart your all-ins. You will either be ahead/behind the majority of the time. After a month, if you are right more than 70% of the time, hang in there: the worm will turn. Less than 70%, check your leaks.

Pan-Asian restaurant at food court in Horseshoe. Worker named Mark thanked me for leaving a tip on my credit card transaction. He was the first in ten days to say “thank you”. I don’t know who to tag, but I told Mark I appreciate his gratitude. Please retweet if you can.

We fall off the ladder sometimes, but we always get back on. What breaks us is also making us. Defeat only happens when we fail to rise after being knocked down. #grit #noquit

No person can be kept from living a happy life if that person expects nothing, fears nothing, and can be satisfied with doing the best he/she can with the present.

Pocket 8s and suited QJ are like my kids when they were young. Always wanted me to play with them, and they costed a fortune!

Whatever y’all do, don’t go for the elderly gentleman “accidentally” throwing in the “wrong color chip” trick, especially when those chips are of a higher denomination. Watched two younguns fall for it last night in a tournament. H.A. stands for “had ass”. #OGKiller #wsop

It’s a decision that we gotta make each time we play. Here it is: Will I play my best, being cheerfully indifferent to variance, or will I let one bad break turn into a cascade of bad breaks, driven by my own weakness to let things I can’t control go? Big decision! #wsop2023

Bitterness can blind us to the opportunities that exist right in front of us. No matter the injustice, no matter the unfairness, no matter the challenges, stay grateful and alert for those chances to flip the script!

It is our perception of things that lead to most of our troubles. Rarely is it the “thing” by itself. That is the chief assertion of Stoicism.

Definition of “grind”: Hard, dull work. Its not the “big hands” that are solely responsible for getting us where we want to go. Just as importantly, it’s the hundreds of nothing hands we grind through where not much is gained or lost. Good “little” decisions add up.

30 days in Vegas. What I learned: 1. Home is where the heart is. 2. Getting “good rest” was my biggest obstacle. 3. Extended bad variance can make you gun shy. 4. Eating healthy and daily exercise are the most important, and difficult, parts of a daily routine. 5. It’s a grind
