For every £1 that’s invested in a church building, £16 of social value is created. Our Chair, Philip Rutnam, in the The Times and The Sunday Times today calls for government departments to consider partnering with local churches to meet their ambitious targets following the #SpendingReview

Whatever your view on the principle (I am mildly opposed), if you were making a list of stuff that needs sorting in this country that Parliament should be focusing on this wouldn't be anywhere near the top of the list. How about sorting social care? bbc.co.uk/news/live/c93k…

UK inflation set to exceed 4pc in Sept and continue at 4-4.5pc until next Spring - see my latest forecast. Even by Jan 2027 price rises will be stuck around 3.5pc. #MPC should not be contemplating interest rate cuts in August or later this year & rate rises could soon be needed.

Brexit isn’t working, and the British people know it. They're fed up with the damage caused by the deal forced on us by Conservative party. Keir Starmer must show some courage and set Britain on a clear path to a new customs union with the EU by 2030.

Confused about what’s going on at the Bank of England? You should be. Higher inflation normally requires high or increasing interest rates. But now, higher inflation means lower interest rates. No surprise that 4 of 9 MPC members voted against this policy move. What a muddle!

I pressed the Ministry of Defence on why we aren’t using every tool to secure peace in Ukraine - including $300bn in frozen Russian assets. Supporting Ukraine means holding Russia to account, and that starts with leadership from every ally. President Trump’s reluctance to support

UK CPI inflation stays stubbornly high at 3.8pc, though #BoE will be relieved it has not gone higher. Next month likely to be 4pc or more. RPI (4.6pc) and CPIH (4.1pc) inflation already 4 percent plus. No case for lower interest rates until inflation has properly subsided.

Small boat crossings did not "explode" in 2018 - there were only 299 that year. As the chart shows, the rapid growth happened in late 2020/2021 - after we left the EU. You can debate whether this was caused by Brexit or just happened at the same time by chance but facts are facts

Andrew Bailey seems to have forgotten that the primary objective of #BoE is to achieve 2 percent inflation. We have only been at/below target for 3 months in past 4+ years. This is a major policy failure, not a minor inconvenience as Bailey’s comment suggests!
