Yesterday, we welcomed Lorraine Ross from STEM @ Education Scotland & Alison Chambers, Quality Improvement Manager from Dumfries and Galloway Council Education Service for the presentation of our STEM Nation Award. Our pupils and staff are delighted with this fantastic, coveted achievement.

Our 7th Annual STEM Speed-dating Event at St. Joseph's College welcomed over 50 professionals to be interviewed by S4 pupils. A fantastic afternoon and a rich source of inspiration for our young people. Dumfries and Galloway Council Education Service

Our S6 Young Enterprise Teams 'Mission Meander' and "Googlys" took part in the region's Dragon's Den competition. Teams from across the region pitched their enterprises and MISSION MEANDER were successful in winning £100 investment!

The St Joseph's Maths Club are working on activities from the Maths Week Christmas Holiday countdown. This week, the team have been working on pathfinding challenges, creating maths based Christmas decorations and completing a month of cryptography challenges.

Ava (S5) and Lucy (S5) have been elected Ward D&G Youth Councillors for Nith, Beth Wright Hall (S3) has been elected as a D&G Ward Youth Councillor for Abbey, and Stevie Allison (S3) has been elected as a D&G Ward Youth Councillor for North West Dumfries. Many congratulations!

S5 and S6 Chemistry pupils spend a fun-filled morning in the labs at Strathclyde University carrying out a series of experiments. Our S6 pupils were given the opportunity to run IR and UV-Vis spectra too.

Eight S4 students had an amazing time at the Salters Chemistry Festival in Glasgow! They heard from inspiring speakers, did hands-on experiments (synthesised aspirin!), & even explored future chemistry careers. 🧪👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 #STEMeducation
